NCSSM-Morganton Athletics: Spring Season Successes The Dragons put together another impressive spring season, highlighted by conference championships, state-level success, and individual honors across multiple programs. Men’s Golf Men’s Golf finished 3rd at the West Regional Championships and captured the conference tournament championship. The Dragons qualified three players for the State Championships, with Davis McColley leading the way by finishing 9th in the state. Women’s Track & Field Women’s Track & Field delivered the strongest performance in program history, finishing 3rd at the State Championship Meet. Stella Friedman claimed State Championships in both the 800m and 1600m events and was named North Carolina Female Track Athlete of the Year. Emmy Miller also captured a State Championship in the pole vault. Men’s Track & Field Men’s Track & Field finished 8th at the State Championship Meet, highlighted by Owen Howard winning the State Championship in the pole vault. The Dragons also produced several strong performances throughout the season and continued establishing themselves as a competitive program within the state. Women’s Soccer Women’s Soccer advanced to the second round of the State Playoffs, continuing the program’s growth and competitiveness. Hannah Xu was recognized for her outstanding season by being named Conference Player of the Year. Men’s Tennis Men’s Tennis earned Conference Champion honors and advanced to the West Regional, continuing another successful season for the program.
